Tag der Sprachen 2015

On the 25th of September, 2015, the European Office of the Vienna Board of Education, in cooperation with the National Agency for Lifelong Learning, hosted an event in the main hall of the Vienna Board of Education, to celebrate The European Day of Languages (http://edl.ecml.at/Home/tabid/1455/language/en-GB/Default.aspx). Nine Viennese primary schools participated in this annual event, initiated by the Council of Europe in Strasburg, to celebrate the linguistic diversity of Europe. This year the event focused on the Modern Language Initiatives in Viennese Primary Schools and on Erasmus+ as being ways of enhancing the globalisation of schools.

Best-practice examples of language diversity in Viennese primary schools were presented with a spotlight on language teaching and learning. Project ideas were presented through lectures, discussions and testimonials about Erasmus+, ESIS European Language Innovation Seals and eTwinning.

Exchange of experiences and networking rounded off the event, whilst enjoying the buffet provided by the Junior High School from the Konstanziagasse 50 in the 22nd district of Vienna.

The cooperation between the National Agency for Lifelong Learning and the European Office of the Vienna Board of Education will continue next year, with the planned focus being the linguistic diversity in Viennese lower secondary schools.
