The political and economic development of Europe demands a higher level of modern language skills, in order to network and make contact on both a personal and professional level with people of a different first language. In order to meet this demand, the European Middle Schools offer pupils the possibility to learn other modern languages, in addition to that of English.
- Subject field European Studies is taught through Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL)
- Optional tuition in Romance and/or languages from the neighbouring countries
An enhanced programme of English as a modern language, as well as English being used as the language of instruction (CLIL - Content and Language Integrated Learning) in the subject field of European Studies. The acquisition of another modern language is also required; this subject is assessed by a grade in the report.
In the subject field of European Studies the pupils gain an in-depth insight into Europe by looking at the historical background, the arts and culture of Europe, as well as the relationship between geography and the environment.
